NATIONAL COFFEE DAY 2016

national-coffee-day-2016

I wasn’t aware that this obscure holiday even existed until recently, but tomorrow marks the official celebration of cuppa, Joe, Jitter Juice or whatever name you like to call it.  If you love coffee and love freebies (and don’t we all?), September 29, 2016 is your day.

National Coffee Day deals in 2016 include:

Dunkin Donuts – selling a medium cup of coffee for just $.66 in honor of it’s 66th birthday

Krispy Creme – a free original glazed donut and a small coffee

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – free espresso shot when customers download the new mobile app. Those customers who already have the app will get double points

Peets – a free cup of coffee with any food purchase

WaWa – a free cup of coffee, up to 24 ounces

Illy – special deals on coffee and coffee-makers

Maui Wowi Hawaiian – 50% off online orders for customers shopping on the company’s site with the promotional code ALOHACOFFEE at check-out.

MacDonalds – coffee proceeds will be donated to nonprofit charity Covenant House

Starbucks – will donate a coffee tree for every cup of brewed Mexico Chiapus cup of coffee in the United States or Mexico. This has been an ongoing promotion for people who buy bags of coffee but Starbucks is extending it to cups for a day in the hopes of reaching it’s goal of 20 million trees by the end of the year. This effort is to support the fight against a fungus called “coffee rust” that is wiping out trees in Latin America.

If you happen to be a girl or guy who just can’t get enough caffeine, here are some really great fragrances to help get you into the spirit of the day.  If you think the idea of wearing a coffee scented fragrance is oddly weird, I used to feel the same way but these have converted me. Sadly, none of these are free:( but they are worth it:

A*Men Pure Coffee by Thierry Mugler – Perfect if you are into sweet, boozy gourmand types of fragrances. Although it’s marketed to men, some women adore this on themselves. The main notes are musk, patchouli, coffee, vetiver and cedar. Although it’s not a listed ingredient I swear I smell whiskey too. A 3.4 oz. bottle is around $125.00

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium – This highly addictive best-seller opens with a jolt of coffee, followed by sweet and creamy vanilla and soft white flowers. This is more floral than coffee scented but you can’t miss the adrenaline-laden coffee notes. A 3.0 oz. bottle costs around $70.00

Rihanna Rebelle – I typically don’t love celebrity fragrances, but this one really surprised me. It contains delicious notes of plum, strawberry and ginger along with heliotrope, orchid, coffee, patchouli and amber. A 3.4 oz. bottle is a steal at around $20.00.

So whether you are a moderate user  or a true addict, don’t forget to celebrate the tomorrow in honor of the world’s most energizing legal drug!

    Hi Erica,

Great Post. My last name is Coffey and in my years I’ve become quite the connoisseur in addition to carrying the name. I’m happy to say that I did take advantage of this holiday and look forward to it every year. (Twice, Krispy Creme and Dunkin Donuts) When the opportunity presents itself I enjoy checking out the nearest Starbucks, placing my order and when they ask for a name for the cup I always get that look when I say “Coffey”, and they repeat “Coffee”? , nope, “Coffey”. Some get it pretty quick, some just don’t but either way it’s always good for a smile and that’s all that matters. Keep up the great work!
