7 DEFAULT FATHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS ON AMAZON

Countdown to Father's Day

All dads are different and finding that perfect scent for Father’s Day can be a challenge. But even though time’s fast approaching there’s no reason to stress. Thanks to Amazon there’s no reason to have to brave the department store or mall if you are one to procrastinate until two days before.

I’m not including any niche or super high-end colognes since you probably don’t want to spend a small fortune on Father’s Day. These are all mainstream, office-friendly fragrances that have been around for a while for a reason. Granted, they will not be appropriate for the guy who only wears Roja Parfums Brittania or Creed Pure White, but if that’s what he loves and you recently won the lottery I say go for it.

Here are 7 different ways to show dad he’s the man:

Armani Acqua Di Gio

This one’s aquatic and fresh and brings to mind freedom, wind and water. The composition is a delightful harmony of sweet and salty notes of seawater and nuances of the scorching Mediterranean sun. A hint of sharp spiciness is softened by a woody base with a warm, musky trail.  Created in 1996 by perfumer Alberto Morillas, its timeless appeal keeps it on the bestselling list.

Versace Eros

Fresh, woody and slightly oriental, the fragrance includes mint oil combined with green apple and Italian lemon. Notes of Madagascar vanilla and Tonka bean back it up and lends a slight sweetness. Inspired by Greek mythology, it’s housed in turquoise-colored glass with head of Medusa on the bottle. Aurelian Guichard of Givaudan is the perfumer behind this scent which launched in 2012.

Dior Sauvage

Launched in 2015 it’s the newest on the list but I can’t say enough about this gorgeous scent. A captivating mix of petitgrain, citrus and vetiver makes this a compliment king. Sauvage was inspired by wild, open spaces and blue sky that covers rocky landscapes, hot under the desert sun. Actor Johnny Depp may have made it famous but the credit goes to nose Francois Demachy.

Bvlgary Black

With rubbery, smokey and woody notes, Black has an urban vibe to it and was created for the man living a metropolitan life. Also present are bergamot, leather and  oakmoss notes with a hint of tea and vanilla. From what I’ve heard this fragrance has been discontinued and Amazon is one of the few places you can still snag a bottle. It was created in 1998 by perfumer Annick Menardo and is not to be confused with flanker Bvlgari Man in Black which came out a few years ago.

Maurer & Wirtz 4711 Original Eau de Cologne

A classis scent that will never go out of style, 4711 Original Eau de Cologne was launched in 1792 (yes you read that right – 1792) by perfumer Wilhelm Muelhens. It’s one of the oldest fragrances still in production continuously and it’s been said that Napolean Bonapart went through an entire bottle of this every day. It’s literally an anti-depressant in olfactory form thanks to its intoxicating neroli and fresh citrus notes. A wearable and affordable piece of history isn’t something you come across too often.  PS There are many who think that Tom Ford tried to clone this with his Neroli Portofino which goes for $170 a bottle.

Calvin Klein CK One

Clean and fresh sums up this citrus aromatic fragrance. CK One was considered to be the first unisex fragrance when it launched in 1994 by Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont. Among the various notes, what stands out most are pineapple, citrus and green tea notes. There’s a clean powdery drydown which turns it into a “my skin but better” type of scent. Perfect for summer.

Dolce & Gabbana The One

Woods, leather and just a hint of something sweet and spicy are in the secret sauce here. Currently Amazon’s top-seller in men’s cologne, The One for Men is crisp, clean elegant and energetic. It manages to smell bold and masculine without being overpowering. Notes include: grapefruit, coriander, basil, cardamom and ginger leading to a drydown of tobacco, amber and cedarwood.

I love your site name. I found it easy to navigate and very pleasing to the eye. I like the colors and the article is very good. Now I know where I can go to purchase my favorites! So do you carry Flowerbomb? or Lady by Ralph Lauren? Plus I needed the reminder of father’s day coming up soon.

      Hey Granny Blogger,

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf  is a popular bestseller that can be found practically everywhere, from Neiman Marcus to Sephora, Amazon and beyond. I’m scratching my head at Lady though; do you possibly mean Woman by Ralph Lauren which is a new perfume launched last year? Or maybe Lauren? There are too many RL scents to name them all but Lauren made a huge impression on me years ago and thinking of it makes me nostalgic:)

Please do drop by again soon!
