AMAZING GRACE BY PHILOSOPHY

If you’re the type of person who shies away from anything stronger than the faintest whisper of a fragrance, Amazing Grace by Philosophy may be right up your alley.

It reminds me of the smell of fresh towels combined with some lovely light florals and the teensiest bit of musk in the mix. There is something very clean, warm and comforting about Amazing Grace. It’s a decidedly innocent scent without being too heavy on the floral side.

Amazing Grace begins with a citrusy blast of Mandarin orange, grapefruit and bergamot which fills the air with their bright aroma. Then along come the garden girls – luscious freesia, enchanting jasmine and captivating rose – who lure you into their sweet embrace. Slowly, a subtle and gentle musk makes its entry at the dry down. The ending reminds me a little of floral soap and baby powder without being powdery or soapy at all, something which remains a mystery to me.

I first smelled this fragrance as a body lotion, which Philosophy calls their “firming body emulsion”, and have since tried it as a perfumed shampoo, bath and shower gel as well as a body spritz and spray fragrance. My favorite way to apply the scent is definitely the body lotion which is ultra long lasting but not at all overwhelming. The fact that it’s super hydrating and firming without being the slightest bit greasy on the skin is another big plus.

I love layering the lotion with other scents when I want to step it up a bit. My two favorites to spritz on after applying the body lotion are Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica Flower Market and Tocca’s Florence. Definitely date-night worthy:)

The message displayed on the bottle reads: “The natural aging process may cause our bodies to descend, but our spirits need not descend into worry. With time comes wisdom, character, strength and perspective. Our bodies are teaching us flexibility and the glory of embracing change on our beautiful journey. We can fight against the flow or we can yield to knowing our bodies, gaining our souls and finding our grace.” Amen to that!

Philosophy donates 1% of all USA net product sales to support community-based mental health efforts. On their website, Philosophy states: “Where there’s hope, there’s grace. The hope and grace initiative represents an unprecedented and unending commitment by Philosophy to support mental health and well-being.” Another great reason to love this brand.
